Quantum deleting and signalling
It is known that if one could clone an arbitrary quantum state then one could send signals faster than the speed of light. Here, we show that deletion of an unknown quantum state for which two copies are available would also lead to superluminal signalling. However, the (Landauer) erasure of an unknown quantum state does not allow faster-than-light communication. 2003 Published by Elsevier B.V.
متن کاملImpossibility of deleting an unknown quantum state Arun
A photon in an arbitrary polarization state cannot be cloned perfectly. But suppose that at our disposal we have several copies of an unknown photon. Is it possible to delete the information content of one or more of these photons by a physical process? Specifically, if two photons are in the same initial polarization state is there a mechanism that produces one photon in the same initial state...
متن کاملNo Signalling and Probabilistic Quantum Cloning
We show that the condition of no faster-than-light signalling restricts the number of quantum states that can be cloned in a given Hilbert space. This condition leads to the constraints on a probabilistic quantum cloning machine (PQCM) recently found by Duan and Guo. 1 E-mail: [email protected] 2 E-mail: [email protected] J.S. Bell showed, in his famous paper [1], the non-local n...
متن کاملDeleting Powers in Words
We consider the language consisting of all words such that it is possible to obtain the empty word by iteratively deleting powers. It turns out that in the case of deleting squares in binary words this language is regular, and in the case of deleting squares in words over a larger alphabet the language is not regular. However, for deleting squares over any alphabet we find that this language ca...

ered a third murine K6 gene, and simultaneously created a promising model system for studying keratin function in more detail. In an effort to study the function of K6, the authors generated a mouse line lacking both K6a and K6b, and found that plaques develop on the tongues of these mice and cause the majority to die of starvation within two weeks of birth. Surprisingly, and in contrast to a p...
